Be thankful.

I hugged my boys a little closer this weekend.  For the first time in the nine years that we've been at our elementary school, we lost a student.

I've had that sick hollow feeling for the last fews days realizing how little control we have over what happens to us.  

This family has been in my thoughts and heart all weekend.

And I realize how lucky we are to not only have the easy life we live, but to be living it with a healthy, happy family.

Hug your loved ones close and be thankful.

The sun is shining.

The kids are out playing.

The dog fanangled a walk out of my wonderful nephew.

And Gorgeous George is upstairs sewing.

Day two of the Halloween Costume Bonanaza 2011. 

Day one mostly consisted of us trying to figure out the best (easiest) way to complete these costumes in a timely fashion.

And I only got the stinkeye once for suggesting what *I* would do if I could sew.

Sewing I don't do, but paper I can manage.

The blogging/crafty world has been as crazy for banners for the last year as Sonny is for Coco Puffs (that bird is a prime cadidate for A&E's Intervention).

As usual I'm slightly unfashionably late to the party.

But as usual, I don't really care.

So this is what I whipped up this morning after yoga (I'm saving the story about how I discovered I wasn't really very zen for another day).

It's hard to see in the photos but there is a spiderweb background behind the letters.

VERY spooky.

Here is a download for you if you want to make it (just click on the image and it will take you to the download), it takes 2 pieces of kraft paper, some printer ink and a piece of twine - brads are optional.

I included a 4th image which I made into a card.

The spider is unravelled embroidery thread and a glittery black brad.

I think the putting together-ness of this is pretty straightforward, just leave a comment if you have any questions.

Now I better go check on Gorgeous George, I have some really good unsolicited suggestions to lay on him.

 

Not a test.

This is not only a test of the nation's broadcast system.

I am trying out the blog thing again.

I spent about 4 hours trying to redesign my blog.

After nearly punching my monitor in the face because I couldn't make stuff do what I wanted, I gave up and decided to just get going. 

I recently got an Etsy shop up and running.

It only took me two years of thinking and talking about it to actually do something. 

My friend, Dawn, who is my partner in crime and many other crazy things (figuratively on the first part and totally literally on the crazy part) pretty much had become weary with my excuses and procrastination and that wrapped up with the noises Gorgeous George was making about me getting a real job was enough to push me into opening a shop last January and actually listing something at the end of last July (I'm good at baby steps).

So this explains the change of my blog name, which actually saddened me, because I was quite fond of the old name, but Etsy wouldn't change their less than 20 letters in a name platform for me. 

Imagine.

So Dawn came up with the name and the quote for one of my best selling prints:

and I was on my way.

I wanted to start of my new (and hopefully improved) blog with a bit of a giveaway, so here is a download you can print at home.
